Five women in the North. Zoubida drives her bus through the mining towns. Dominique arranges her shop window. Brigitte is summoned by an advisor from her temp agency, Sylvie by one from the job centre. Meanwhile, the other Brigitte accompanies ladies to fitting rooms.
They also raise their children, welcome friends into their small courtyards under the northern sun, talk about their careers, and everything else. For some, there is no work, and for others, so little, it doesn’t matter; as best they can, they tackle the slope, the slag heaps shaped by their parents.
