There was once a kingdom by the sea where hundreds of children lived in exile: the Trestel sanatorium in Brittany. Because they suffered from bone disorders, they grew up with carers, often far from their parents. This small community included boys and girls from all over France, including my mother.
Sixty years later, they recount their lost paradise. Under the crystalline light that flows eternally through the corridors of the old building, lingering traces of the past emerge. And at the back of the attic, a little girl remains trapped in a forgotten painting. As their memories resurface, they gradually reveal to me the dark side of their wonderful castle.
