What secret passion connects men to the ocean that both kills and nourishes them? This film attempts to answer this question using amateur films made exclusively by sailors themselves. From scratched 8mm films from the 1930s to today’s pocket films, including colourised images and videotapes from the 1970s, we embark on their stories and perspectives. With them, we embark on different eras and voyages, in a history of cinema. Their films retrace a great journey around the globe and through the lives of men. In the wake of Ulysses, this film is a cinematic and maritime Odyssey told by sailors.
