In camera for a neighbourhood

2007 • 52'

On the outskirts of a small town, a large plot of land is soon to be zoned for development. The municipality hopes to seize this opportunity to launch an innovative project.
Gathered around the table, local officials, young urban planners eager to move beyond the typical suburban housing-estate model, developers and an architect are defending their own interests.
By immersing itself for several months in the negotiations between these various stakeholders, the film captures—in the heat of the moment—how genuine, sincere political ambitions can go off track, while prompting reflection on urban planning and local democracy.
